The News Year's Eve Enduro Was A Great Way To Ring In The New Year
With David Pabst Jr. Shining The Brightest

On New Year's Eve, 2009, a crowd of nearly 700 hardcore racing fans converged on the "Jewel of the West" to watch the Old Year go out with a splash.  Enduro drivers from all over Central California did not deny anyone in attendance the simple pleasure of their fender-bending delight as they splashed and crashed through 299 Laps of wet and wild excitement.  A coin was flipped to see in which direction the race would begin.  It turned up heads and the race began with the drivers turning right.

The #98 of Ryan Strmiska from Manteca's famous racing family and the #22 of Ryan Daves brought the field rumbling around to greet the green.  Strmiska jumped out to the early lead as things quickly got busy behind him, but the #98 held strong until lap 20 when the #7 of Chris Lancaster dropped low and took the lead.  Lancaster scrambled to a sizable lead for the next 44 laps until lap 66 when Enduro Superstar, David Pabst Jr. of Stockton, wrestled the lead away.  Pabst dominated for the rest of the first half until a competition red was thrown on lap 150 to mark the halfway point and allow the teams to refuel.  At the start of the second half Pabst picked up where he left off until lap 225 when Larry Moniz of Lodi (95), who had looked very strong early on and managed to unlap himself, took over that coveted top spot where he held tight for the next 63 laps until Pabst decided it was go time, and, on lap 289, go he went, all the way to the checkers to pick up his sixth win on the year out of twelve races.  "You have to be patient and be there at the end to win one of these," said a very reserved Pabst.  Moniz would hold on to finish second, one lap down.  The #20 of Sean Coker, after running an extremely conservative race, finished on the podium in third.  Jo Addison (02), another Enduro Great, brought her home fourth with the #3 of Nick King, in impressive fashion, rounding out the top five.  Following the race a spectacular fireworks show lit up the sky in a beautiful end to the 2009 racing season.  It was a great and successful first year back for Stockton 99 Speedway and next year promises to be bigger and better.  HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL, AND TO ALL A GOOD NIGHT!!!
